Doppelbock Extract Recipe Kit

BJCP Category 9: Strong European Beer · Subcategory 9A: Doppelbock

A strong, rich, and very malty German lager. First brewed in Munich by the Paulaner Friars as a form of “liquid bread” during fasting. Literally a Double Bock, it is much higher in alcohol than your typical lager.

 This kit is designed to make 5 gallons of beer.

Suggested Fermentation Temp: 52-58°F

Kit does not include bottle caps, priming sugar, or yeast

Suggested Yeast:

Preferred Lager Fermentation (52—58°F):

We recommend a triple pitch of Fermentis Saflager S-189 dry lager yeast for best results at the fermentation temperature suggested above.

Optional Ale Fermentation (62—68°F):

 

If you are unable to achieve lager fermentation temperatures, an acceptable substitute is a double pitch of Lallemande Nottingham dry ale yeast, which will give a “lager like” result at the fermentation temperature recommended above.
